Advent November 25, 2007

There is a fabulous advent calendar for sale at Magma Books, but I can’t find it on their website. It was in yesterday’s Times – has anyone found it online? It comprised a set of black cards with white lettering. The Magma Books site does have some excellent Christmas presents for sale, such as these tiny creatures, measuring plates, and Sukie homewares.

The Times has also done a short feature on advent calendars. I’m being very untraditional this year and have a Doctor Who advent calendar, with a big Dalek on it. It’s not very Christmassy, but I don’t think it hurts to break from tradition every now and then.

I bought some striking note cards at John Lewis this weekend. They are by a British artist called Angie Lewin, and I’m happy to see she contributes to a blog. Her prints are also available to buy, and the colours would look great in my house. If only I could persuade our new kitten to stop climbing up things and damaging precious items!

Cardboard fantastic November 6, 2007

idees.jpgThe latest Marie Claire Idees arrived today, so I have been flicking through it and as usual wishing I had kept up with my french after leaving school. There is a great feature on things made from cardboard, which is far more exciting than it sounds.

This wreath, made around a mirror, is beautiful and uses subdued colours to great effect.

Here’s the (french) list of what else is in this edition.
